Monivent just finished off some exciting days, demonstrating our recently launched Monivent Neo training device, to a great crowd at a conference on neonatal and pediatric intensive care in Dresden, Germany.
It was the annual German meeting - Jahrestagung der Gesellschaft für Neonatologie und Pädiatrische Intensivmedizin e. V. (GNPI) - that was being arranged for the 43d time, this year in the International Congress Center in Dresden.
Monivent has been nominated for 33-listan! The list, compiled once a year by NyTeknik and Affärsvärlden, consist of the 33 most promising young tech companies of the year.
Monivent was selected as one of three companies to pitch on stage during 33-listan’s Sweden tour stop at Gothia Towers in Gothenburg on 14th of March. The winner for best pitch would directly qualify to the list.
Antti Stålnacke from Monivent did a highly appreciated pitch, yet it didn’t take Monivent all the way to a secured spot on 33-listan. The company may however still make it on to the final list, which will be presented at the final in Stockholm in April.
Monivent's first product - Monivent Neo training - is now CE-marked and available for purchase. Being the first product in the Monivent Neo series, this is a device adding a new dimension to simulation-based ventilation training on manikin. For its use within training and education, Monivent Neo training measures the airflow during manual ventilation and provides feedback on several ventilation parameter, in very much the same way that our next device will do in the real clinical situation during resuscitation of newborns. Feedback during training will help practise how to adjust different parameters and understanding how that actually affects the ventilation in order to improve the ventilation skills. The caregiver get a feeling for correct treatment and how to ensure a safe and effective ventilation in the real clinical situation.
Please get in touch for more information about the device or availability.
The annual pediatric simulation meeting, where caregivers with a special interest in simulation training at hospitals all over Sweden meet up, was recently held in Halmstad. Of course Monivent was there to hear the discussions about what is going on in the field and to demonstrate our upcoming training device - Monivent Neo training - for feedback during manual ventilation training on manikin. This was a great opportunity for us to meet up with experts in the field from the regions nearby.
We are happy to introduce our new colleague, Antti Stålnacke, who just joined Monivent to further strengthen the product development team in the process of bringing Monivent Neo to the market. Antti holds a M.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology. His interests lie in the fields of signal processing, data analysis, physical modelling and product development and he has previously worked at smaller med tech companies like Neoventa Medical AB and Medfield Diagnostics AB. This background means that he is well suited to work on algorithms and signal processing here at Monivent.
Monivent was recently announced winner in the category ”Ungt/nyskapat Elektronikföretag i Västsverige 2015" in a competition held by Elektronikindustriföreningen i Göteborg. The award was created to strengthen the electronics industry companies' important role for a smart and sustainable social development.
The news was highlighted on several news sites and trade magazines: evertiq, Elektroniktidningen and Elektronk i Norden.
On 10-11 March 2016 a research symposium on Asphyxia, Hypothermia and Delivery Room Management will be held at the Technical University in Dresden, Germany. Monivent took part already last year, exhibiting our prototype and having the participants try it out for themselves in a workshop setting.
This year, Monivent will demonstrate the latest technical development and product improvements in both our exhibition booth as well as in an interactive workshop. You will get the opportunity to get hands-on experience from what it's like to ventilate a manikin with continuous feedback on several ventilation parameters, using a standard ventilation device and Monivent's face mask with integrated and wireless flow measurement. Make sure to sign up for our workshop when registering for the event if you plan to attend.
The Faculty of Medicine Carl Gustav Carus at the Technische Universität Dresden arranges an annual symposium on highly relevant topics concerning the neonate. Read more about the neonatal research group in Dresden here.

On March 12-13 the 6th Symposium Asphyxia & Hypothermia as well as the 7th European Symposium on Delivery Room Management were held at Carl Gustav Carus Universitätsklinikum in Dresden, Germany. Monivent participated with an exhibition booth that was crowded with interested physicians from many different parts of Europe during the breaks. Monivent also hosted a workshop on the theme "Monitoring and improving resuscitation while doing it!". The workshop participants got to try to ventilate a mannequin using a bag-valve-mask to see how the ventilation could be improved with continuous feedback from Monivent Neo. It was a very interesting visit with great input, discussions and new contacts.
Next week the venture capital forum Connect2Capital 2015 is organized at Clarion Hotel Post in Gothenburg and Monivent will be participating. You will find us in the exhibition stand, pitching on stage or just mingling around. Read more about the event here.

Monivent participated at the European Academy of Paediatric Societies meeting in Barcelona 17-21 October. Many interesting lectures were held during the meeting, and of particular interest was Colin Morley's speech on the existing shortcomings within neonatal resuscitation today and the need for better monitoring during the manual ventilation procedure. This is the exact challenge that Monivent is addressing with the development of Monivent Neo.
With his work on the next prototype, Oscar has earned a nomination to the Swedish Embedded Award 2014! As a result of this, we will be exhibiting the next prototype at the Embedded Conference Scandinavia at Kistamässan in Stockholm 4-5 november. This is also where the winner of Swedish Embedded Award will be presented. You can read more about the nominated ideas in Elektronik i Norden. (swedish)
Today it was time for Växjö Lasarett to participate in Monivent's mannequin study to evaluate the existing prototype. We had a great turnout and the crowd was predominantly positive and exited about the solution presented.
Great thanks to the organizers and the participants for providing us with highly valuable data and input for the continued product development.
